About the Program: As flu season comes upon us, we need to remember how vulnerable our residents are. Disease outbreaks can be fatal to some of our residents. A proactive approach is the best line of defense to stopping an outbreak.
This program will discuss the top causes of spreading infection, correct handwashing and isolation techniques. There will also be a focus on the guidelines for prevention and control of antibiological resistance organisms and drug resistant organisms as it relates to the long term care setting.
When: Thursday, November 12, 2009 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM Registration begins 30 minutes prior to the start of the program

About the Presenter: Libby Chinnes has worked in Infection Prevention and Control for over 25 years and currently has her own business for the past 10 years, IC Solutions, LLC. Her experience in infection control covers the continuum of care including acute care, long term care, long term-acute care (LTAC), home care, and ambulatory care as well as healthcare consultation to industry. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has been certified in Infection Control since the date of the first exam in 1983. She is a long standing member of APIC and AORN.
Who Should Attend:
Nursing, administrative and therapy staff including those who work in management and deliver patient care in nursing homes.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made in writing and may be faxed to SCHCA at (803) 772-7943. Cancellations by phone will not be accepted. Cancellation received no later than November 6th will receive a full refund. Registrants who do not attend or who do not complete the full seminar will not receive a refund unless prior written notice is given to the SCHCA office.
